Vertical Leap office Portsmouth

Developer (.Net, Python and/or NodeJS)

We are a search and digital agency that uses data science and machine learning to dig deeper into our customers’ search marketing campaigns and perform at a scale not humanly possible.  We are part of Sideshow group, which is on the Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100 list of fastest growing private technology companies.

This role is within the Apollo Insights team, working on Vertical Leap’s proprietary software platform Apollo Insights.

Apollo Insights – the product.

Apollo Insights programmatically identifies threats and opportunities in our customers search marketing campaigns at a scale that would be impossible to achieve manually; and then advises our experts on what to do.

Apollo Insights has a lot of moving parts: containerised data ingress applications, data processing applications ranging from SQL jobs through AWS Lambdas to containerised applications, large RDS databases with data warehousing processes, an ASP.NET MVC website and API end points.

Our focus right now is on continuing with our BAU – identifying new data sources and ways to process the data to give fresh insights – but also on improving the efficiency of our systems (by using the best technologies for the job e.g. Fargate, Redshift etc) and our processes (observability, devopsification etc).

We are looking for people who like to learn, code and care about end users. Our go to language is C#, our platform is AWS, our methodologies are agile.

You need to know or want to learn about:

C# – .Net Core – ASP.Net MVC (with Javascript, HTML. CSS) – SQL – Docker – AWS – Node JS – Python – Machine Learning – Agile Processes

A focus on development

We have a strong focus on individual development. You will be encouraged to push yourself and learn new things. We use Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) throughout the company. We also host guest speakers at our VLU events – Vertical Leap University. This offers knowledge on a range of interesting topics related to our work.

Great benefits

You’ll get 22-25 days holiday a year depending on length of service, plus we even get an extra day off for our birthday! Extra pension benefits (above and beyond auto enrolment) and health insurance kick in with length of service.

With a summer and Christmas party, and the odd staff-bonding trip to the Tenth Hole or Pizza Express on the company’s wallet, there are some excellent benefits to working at Vertical Leap – in addition to the unique culture, great training opportunities and fantastic workspace.

Finally, you’ll be working in a great office with views over Portsmouth harbour and with a great bunch of people who are real experts in their fields.

Your wellbeing is important to us

We take mental wellbeing seriously at Vertical Leap. We run monthly mental wellbeing sessions and have an internal communications channel where we share wellbeing content. We are constantly working towards removing the stigma that surrounds mental health so that everyone feels more comfortable talking openly about it without fear of being judged.
